Babysitting Madness

This past week McKay and I had an opportunity to stay up in Midway in a beautiful house and watch two adorable children named Presley and Stella. It was fun to play mom and dad in this dream house even with the screaming, crying, and cleaning involved.

We were busy having lots of fun and going on many adventures! Some of these included attending the Wallsburg annual 24th of July Celebration, swimming, driving around Midway and Heber to collect brag tags, getting pizza, playing at multiple parks, walking around the Heber Farmer's Market, and even attending a bridal shower for my cousin.

These are the girls with their fairy gardens, they are the cutest little pots where their fairies come and stay at night when no is watching of course.

At the the 24th parade Presley got splashed by some kids throwing water balloons and ended up with mud on her face.

I LOVE this picture, it shows Stella's emotion as a kid was bouncing her more than she wanted to be at the park.

The girls even got their face painted at the 24th celebration....they wanted them wiped off promptly after returning home.
One of my favorite parts of the week was watching McKay interact with the girls. Something I have always loved is how cute and playful my man is with little kids. These girls adored him and loved having him around; they teased him, called him princess, bossed him around, but through all of that he made it fun and was so patient. This makes me even more excited to be a parent with him.

I really LOVE kids and have always enjoyed babysitting, it is fun that now McKay can come with me on my overnight babysitting adventures. (at least it is fun for me, his comments are below)

I am glad my wife saw through the sarcastic comments, nasty glares, and words of frustration that seemed to be in abundance. Like with anyone else, it took me a little while to warm up to these little girls.  My wife has a natural and somewhat uncanny ability to love any child she sees.  Even if I love the child, sometimes it takes a little while to feel comfortable around them.  Like a new laptop that I have to get familiar with before I feel like I can really use it freely, I had to feel out the situation before I could really be myself with these kids.

I think it was the trip to the pool that made the change. It wasn't long before Presley wanted a ride on my back as I swam around the pool. Having been reduced to the Loch Ness Monster I felt pretty comfortable with the girls. Little did I know that would bring its own set of problems.  If I didn't already have a problem with premature balding, I definitely do now.  They were quite possibly the roughest hair dressers I have ever had the **Pleasure** of working with. My hair was constructed into several different forms of mohawks and at the end my scalp ached and I was covered in little scratches. It was so much fun to see them get more comfortable with me though. Stella had remained pretty distant and a little skeptical of me but that day at the pool she was yelling at Presley that it was her turn to play with my hair. I taught them how to blow bubble rings, and we had fun taking pictures with my phone.

Although their house is amazing and their deck has hanging lights that were romantic and so much fun at night, I guess the best part was the kids. They were a lot of fun.  Like Madi said, it was fun to play house and imagine what it will be like someday when we are settled in a house with kids...emphasis on the word someday.
