Our 2014 So Far

Well I've successfully avoided writing on this blog for almost a whole year. Our life has been pretty hectic and I have a horrible habit of getting behind on a journal or blog and then not wanting to write until I have time to recap everything. So here is our year in review: January we had a blast visiting San Diego with the Andersons on a short weekend vacation. It was such a nice break from our semesters.

In March we found out that we were expecting a baby and couldn't be more thrilled to start our family together. It was so fun to announce our news to our family and friends. Thanks to Cole and April for taking pictures for us to use as an announcement :) Unfortunately I had to deal with some throwing up and not feeling so well right from the start, but we made it through. As soon as we found out that we were having a boy we couldn't resist getting some cute clothes.

During the summer McKay and I both worked like crazy to save up some money for our next semesters of school and our baby. We got to go on a trip to Colorado with the Gordon's for the Fourth of July which was a blast. We had never been to Colorado and we had fun exploring the town of Steamboat Springs with the fam. We enjoyed swimming, playing games, a gondola ride, Main Street parade, fireworks, and fun.

Our other summer adventure was to Lake Powell with McKay's extended family, the Olson's. We had a blast! Being in water is extra soothing when pregnant. I loved just swimming around, reading, boat rides, playing games, and talking with everyone. It rained part of the time we were there which made for some really neat water falls of the red cliffs. Thanks to all the Olson's who helped make this happen.

At the end of August McKay and I both started back into school. I'm still loving my Dental Hygiene program and McKay is really enjoying his Industrial Design program. We feel so lucky to be accepted into the majors of our choice. Of course we chose the busiest semester for both of us to have a baby, but luckily we made it through. We had to take things one day at a time and try to enjoy every little minute together.

November was the best month ever as our sweet baby boy joined our family. He came right on his due date, November 27th which was also Thanksgiving Day. We named him Lewis and are so thrilled to have him here. More on his birth in a later post.
